New library at River Mead School Opens
We are delighted to share the opening of our new library at River Mead School. The “Riverside Library” as proudly named by students on the school parliament was opened by children’s author Sufiya Ahmed along with Chair of Governors (Colin Kay), Louise Harrison (Headteacher) members of the School Parliament and Sue Mortimer (representing the reading volunteer team).
Throughout the day workshops ran for years 5 and 6 along with a whole school assembly of celebration. The day’s excitement concluded with a fantastic book signing and an opportunity after school for parents and families to view the library themselves.
Louise Harrison says “As the heart of our school, our library will provide a rich haven for our children to lose themselves in literature. As well as supporting our children, we also hope to be able to open our library to the wider community”
Thanks go to Selwood Housing for their funding contribution towards making the library a reality.
